What does developmental psychology bring to child education? Is scientific knowledge from studies performed in the western world universally applicable? How do we account for cultural differences when performing cross-cultural research? Is it possible to stimulate early child development? what are the relevant research questions on youth in a changing world? In search of answers to these questions a workshop was held in Cambridge, UK in September 2009, bringing together scholars from the United Kingdom, India and the Netherlands.The aim was to examine ways to bridge gaps between child development and education, theory and practice, evolution of effective educational practices and current practices, and evolution of needed knowledge on child and adolescent mental health.
